I am trying to set up a clean DNN 8 install locally.  I literally have installed DNN 20 times or more in the last 6 months without issue but have had no luck with DNN 8 three times today.  I get the "pink screen of death' every time I try to get into any of the admin functions:

Trying to open the Admin panel:

Error: Basic Features is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: c:\Websites\PVAS\DesktopModules\Admin\Console\ViewConsole.ascx.cs(42): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Console' does not exist in the namespace 'DotNetNuke.Modules' (are you missing an assembly reference?) ...

Trying to set up user roles:

Error: Security Roles is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Unknown server tag 'dnn:DnnComboBox'. ---> System.Web.HttpParseException: Unknown server tag 'dnn:DnnComboBox'.. . .

and so on.  I can get to the Super User's profile and open up the home page for editing, but everything in the top management  toolbar is broken.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

JoAnn

JoAnn,
did you make sure, the hosting environment meets the requirements for DNN 8 (e.g. .Net 4.5.1 or later)?
nVQuicksite http://www.nvquicksite.com/ might help you with it.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

Yes, and I have two other DNN 8 sites installed locally including a clone of the one hosted up on PowerDNN where they are now using Sql Server 2016.  I had to install SqlServer 2016 for that one.  Turned a 5 minute setup into a 5 hour one.

AFAIK, DNN 8 requires SQL Server 2008 or later.
Which version were you using before?

.2012,  now I have 2016 as well.  The other DNN8 sites are running 2012 dbs.   I just deleted the whole thing and will try again later.  Since it installed before, it must be something on my end.  Thanks.
