sa account will work only, if SQL server is set up for mixed authentication.
However, install procedure in WPI is created by Microsoft, I am not familiar with all details.

Thank you for your prompt replies.  SQL server is setup for mixed authentication. I verified that.

The DNN 9 platform install adds SQL Server 2008 R2 as its dependency and installs that first. in that process i get get stuck as we want to use another id not sa .  Though, I tried to use sa, i still get stuck with the installer not able to connect, while I can connect via SSMS as sa id.  There is something wrong I am doing (or in our env) which I need help figuring out.
