I was able to install the template in VS2005 and built without debugging (Ctrl+F5) but I ended up with this common error: "Thread was being aborted ..." during the Repository module installation. I tried to add the element "execution_timeout=600" for the httpruntime attribute in Web.Config with no help. I did this process a couple of times and then I just gave up. It is very annoying because I followed all instructions in the Welcome.html page.

It might be some hardware or software configurations missing on the computer itself or Web.config is full of surprises !

My Computer configuration: XP PRO SP2, IE6 SP2, VS2005, SQL Server 2005 (Standard Edition), ASP.NET 2.0 (v2.0.50727), 1.5 GHz CPU, 756MB RAM

Does someone have DNN 4.3.4 working on the configuration mentioned previously ?

Thanks,

Michael

I got the same problem. I thought it's because the SQL Server timeout.  Retried several times, and finally it worked. And then I had another problem: "The page cannot be found". Tried searching and found that UseFriendlyUrls not worked. Disabled it, and my DNN website worked. But another problem . I dont know default admin password. Tried to register another user. Guess what I got: Javascript Error.

I was so tired with DNN4.3.4

You could try to remove the modules from the Install/modules directory (leave the links and html module) so installation will go faster and not time-out.

Thanks, Geert & huyhk.

First of all I would try to look at the modules what exactly they do and see what the problem is. I am really sure the problem relies in a timeout expiration but who is the culprit. It depends of the module but if you look at the Stack Trace is clear that an asynchronous operation was undergoing at that time and one of the "component" involved in the communication did not respond in the specific amount of time. If I would switch to other computer much faster (CPU+RAM) that the one tested would I have more success ? Maybe, that needs to be seen. I am going to give a try ...

It would be better for the DNN team to make Install packages that contain the minimum components in order to make it functional. No need for any component that might cause problems in certain configurations.
