I am having a tough time installing DNN 4.3.5 onto godaddy.  I have taken the following steps:

1) created a SQL database (DB Name=DB_94257, Host Name=whsql-v11.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net, User Name = pricetowin

2) created /portal directory w/ read, web, browse, write, & set root

3) unziped DNN instal into local directory

4) modified web.config to incluse the following:

  <connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
    <!-- add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
connectionString="Server=whsql-v11.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net;Database=DB_94257;uid=pricetowin;pwd=password;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
   -->
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
    <!--  add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=whsql-v11.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net;Database=DB_94257;uid=pricetowin;pwd=password;"/>

5) I upload the directory to the /portal folder on godaddy

6) I point my browser at http://www.price-to-win.com/portal/ and I get the following error;

Server Error in '/portal' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

I have customErrors mode="Off" but i get the same result.

Any suggestions??  Godaddy is not very helpful.

please check web.config again, it is case sensitive!

Thanks.  Maybe I have been staring at this for too long but I cannot see a case problem.  Did you see something specific?

Verify that you write:

customErrors mode="Off"

not

customErrors mode="off"

Thanks, I did catch that, but it has gotten me no closer to getting the application to work.  The error seems to be with the connection string, but I cannot figure out what is wrong.  When I leave the;

<!-- add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

string uncommented, I at least get a DNN error rather than a fatal .Net error.  Of course, I am not using SQL Express, so I have commented it out.  Any suggestions?
