I was able to use Evotiva's BackupScript 2.0.4 module for DNN to execute a backup of my live, functional sites on my home server. Both of the functional sites were hosted by GoDaddy shared hosting, and both sites were pretty complex.

One thing which I find essential is to create your database (if using SQL Server 2005 Express) in such a way that allows both DNN and SQL Server Management to access the database. If this is not done, then only one or the other will be able to access (forever) the database after DNN is installed. Shawn Mehaffie has figured out a way around this. I used Shawn Mehaffie's excellent blog page here to configure the database attach so that both SQL Server Management Express and DNN could both access the DNN database without fighting each other.

I'm working on a website at http://www.dnncassini.com to hopefully sync together the steps involved to use Evotiva's BackupScript alongside the non-IIS UltiDev Cassini Web Server to create local backup/restores from/to a functional DNN site.
