I have same problem on my DNN4.3.7 site, in Admin>>Site Settings page, I login as host, but all the logo and Body Background sections shows:

You don't have permission to see the files on the site

any suggestion?

got it,  it is a DNN setting that you need to change. Goto Admin/File Manager. At the bottom is a section to give View and Write permissions to roles.

Host always has privileges to all files/folders - there's no role for host, or rather it's a super/pseudo role. And admin ... same thing. You can't provide or remove edit permissions on folders and files from the administrator role. It's all greyed out. Yet admins on my portals are getting permission denied errors.

Whatever is wrong, is more than just this.

What do the three settings (ddl, upper left in file manager) regarding security and file system, database, etc affect or accomplish?

theoretically, host supposed to have all the rights on all folders, but it does not working this way on my site, but after I assign all users to access a folder, problem solved.

Never used to be that way - that you have to give all users edit privs on a folder in order for the admin to have those privs.

I can't imagine it is supposed to be that way now. Though I hear what you're saying - it is solving the problem for you. But I really doubt that is the intention.

It would be a really cool thing to have someone who understands what's going on here help us out.
