 Mike wrote <%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" TagName="LOGIN" Src="~/Admin/Skins/Login.ascx" %>

And this tag at the bottom of my skin.ascx page:

Finally, this code shows the logout link if the user is logged in, but does not show the login link if the user is not logged in:

If Page.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated = True Then
 Me.dnnLOGIN.Visible = True
Else
 Me.dnnLOGIN.Visible = False
End If

This works for me. Visitors do not see an option to login, editors can easily remember the edit.mysitename.com URL to get to the login screen, and the logout link appears after the user logs in.

Hi Mike, this is the solution i m looking for, but where should i place the code in skin.ascx file and do i need to add the for the code? pls advise and thank you in advance.

put this code in the login_load event

Protected Sub LOGIN_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
        If Page.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated = True Then
            Me.dnnLOGIN.Visible = True
        Else
            Me.dnnLOGIN.Visible = False
        End If
    End Sub

I am not sure if this will help but there is a little free module called content majic ? or similar ( serach will find it ), it allows you to add moduls and use the txt / html editor, and had tokens that include log out.

so if you wanted you could create the modle place it anywhere on your page , and in that create a table with only the logout / in token and size it to what you want, then set the module to be viewed by all registered users only, this way nothing will show unless logged in and once logged in you can have the log out placed where you like. HTH

I'd like to review that majic module. Google is not finding it for me. Would you please share a link to it?

Also, the standard text/html module will process tokens. Why not just use that module in the same way described above?

Personally, I like Mitchell's solution of changing the font color. It leaves all the functionality but removes the temptation for causal visitors to click and try to log in.

I also think this is a useful conversation. I have several sites where people are registering uninvited. It seems that link is just too enticing to pass up for some.
