I find that while I can't log out and paste in the path to my Default.aspx file without being prompted to log in--which is good--I CAN, however, browse through my file hierarchy if I happen to log out and paste in my path.

For instance, if I paste into my browser:

http://mysite.org/portal/Portals/0

Hey, I'm ready to browse some files!

This is not good. How do I lock out this kind of directory-browsing ability?

Thanks very much.

You turn off Directory browsing in the IIS Manager.

On the Home Directory tab from the properties of your IIS website is a checkbox for Allow Directory Browsing.

Well, I'm hosting the site through godaddy...can't really access the IIS manager, to my knowledge anyway. And while I've found what seems to be something that allows me to turn off directory browsing on godaddy, it seems to not be working...

If it's not in your GoDaddy control panel, then you should contact GoDaddy support.

Wow. Godaddy says I cannot change the permissions on my DNN root folder.

The actual response from Godaddy tech support:

>Thank you for contacting Online Support. Unfortunately, you will not be able
>to change the permissions on that directory, becuase it is a
>value application folder. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Hard to believe. Basically, browse away on all my DNN sites hosted by Godaddy! :(
