I've got the scheduled sync disabled now and have no file-sync errors, but it's still odd why it would generate a tons of errors when enabled, especially when I had set it to only run daily. It should really have run once a day, and if it had a problem then it should have retried two hours later. Instead, it just kept firing away several time an hour and failing half the time... as if the scheduling system didn't work properly.
I could enable it again and see if it does the same thing again.
I'm at a stage in my DNN experience where I'm becoming more concerned about the finer points of running my portals. Early on I tended to ignore the event log because it was just full of incomprehensible messages. Now I'm conrened with having a smoothly running portal for my users, I have to deal with any signs of problems and that's why I have recently been asking around about log errors.
It's hard to find out what errors can be considered to be normal or inconsequential and what are important flaws that need to be dealt with. It would be very cool if someone who has the experience and knowledge were able to write up a list of exceptions and note what they mean and whether they matter.
I've started a small list myself, but I'm in no position to do it authoritatively.
And Sebastian, thanks for the replies to the thread.
