I experienced the same problem. It appears to be a compatibility issue with ASP.net 2.0. I used the following procedure to resolve the issue (based on W2K server):

  1. Start Internet Services Manager
  2. Navigate to your DNN 3 installation, Right Mouse click and select Properties
  3. Go to the ASP.NET Tab
  4. Change the Drop Down for ASP.NET Vesion to 1.1.4322 and click Apply then OK
  5. Close out of ISM
  6. Restart your Web Service

I hope this helps you out.

That did not help as I had tried switching my ASP.NET versions over and over and was getting issues with each version. I did however go to the command line and run aspnet_regiis /c from the windows\Microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322 and it seemed to fix a whole lot of my issues not just this one. I now have what seems to be complete functionality. I hope this helps someone in the future!

Situation resolved.  I seem to have a gremlin in my system or it was a PEBKAS!  Thanks for the replies.

The fix on my system was to add

enableEventValidation="false"

to the <pages> tag in web.config.
