I have read inside of some tables such as DesktopModules, Modules, ModuleControls, ModuleDefinitions... But I can not understand the purposes of these tables. Please help me to explain them. Thank in advance.

Modules contains the data of a modules instance places anywhere in a portal

TabModules is used to store the reference between a tab (page) and a module instance, this allows shadowing

DesktopModules and ModuleDefinitions hold the information about an installed module,

ModuleControls is used to keep information about each module page, to add the proper default actions automatically to the action menu.

Thank you.

By the way, I see that there is aspnet_Roles table which has not been used. And the table  Roles in the database stores the roles of users. Why don't we remove the aspnet_Roles table?

all Aspnet_* tables are part of the micrisift membership provider, used to store general user accounts.
