Same. issue: 4.5.1; and upgraded to 4.5.3 thinking it might fix it (before finding this post).

I was trying to create a portal with a single portal template. the suggestion to use the portal template works.  might as well remove the other options if they are not available when creating a portal.

This seems to be related to template schema changes. I found this suggested fix at snapsis.com

Seems that DotNetNuke has had a problem with exporting and importing templates in recent versions.

I don't use this feature, but I came across a thread in the DotNetNuke Forums and after discussing with Nina Meiers I found out it has been broken for quite a while.

Anyway, it was a pretty easy fix, just needed to add some new nodes to the Schema.  I have made that schema available and attached it to this post. After downloading, just overwrite the same file in the /admin/portal folder.

Unfortunately, this hasn't worked in allowing me to migrate my portals from an old installation over to separate new ones.

Hi, thank you for researching this and finding a solution. For some reason it isn't working for me. I'm on version 4.8 and copied your xsd file to my admin/portal folder but I still get the error when creating a new portal using a template that used to work for me before the upgrade. Is there maybe even a newer version of the xsd that is required for 4.8?

I'm still having this issue. This seems like a critical issue - not being able to create a new portal. Is there a fix for this yet?
