Definitely make sure you run those tasks on one box only.  The PurgeCahce one is for the in memory cache on each box so that needs to be run on each.

We turned off the file synch so that we knew when those operations were happening.

I'm in process of moving to new servers in a webfarm. Altho I had UNC share set up and working on existing site, am having a world of problems getting it working on new servers. What's different is these servers run sp2, x64, quad core dual procs, etc. otherwise the scenario is the same. I have followed my documentation (from setting up first servers) to a T without success. I get 404 errors when trying to run site. I can run a local site so I know that IIS is good to go. I have run caspol to set full trust to the UNC share server, these servers are on a domain and a domain user has access to the UNC share. It was a nightmare to get this working in the first place but I don't recall seeing a 404 error before. Any ideas would be very appreciated.

Agree that Microsoft / ASP setup is grey area - check out http://forums.asp.net/p/919479/1076134.aspx for a checklist of key issues to cover off primarily code access security

Sometimes I find it easier to just synchronize local usernames and passwords on each machine than it is to have a domain user as the anonymous web user.

John, I appreciate your response and was thinking along the same lines. If I have a local user on each web head and the file server then the connection would be as "machinename\username", how do I synchronize the users and passwords?
