BTW... does this have to do with the fact that my installation of DotNetNuke is not on the root level?

http://www.mikroproje.com/DotNetNukeArticles/tabid/283/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/80/Default.aspx

Go Daddy is my hosting provider.  Do I have to install DNN at the root level?

Thanks guys!

Maybe your problem come from that DNN is installed in a virtual directory "www.azlocals.com/dotnetnuke"

So all the new parent portals you create point to that virtual directory.

So for  www.doorywebsolutions

you must modify the http alias in the portal setting of DNN to point to  www.doorywebsolutions/dotnetnuke and than the website become accesible from /dotnetnukewww.doorywebsolutions.

To make it accesible from www.doorywebsolutions, you must place a redirect (asp redirect for exemple) than redirect to /dotnetnukewww.doorywebsolutions.
