Hi,

In attempting to set this up on my server looking at the thread above I got close but not completely there.  Could someone help me with the final missing link.  I have a site "MainSite" that I have directed the DNS provider to point at the servers at our IP hosting company.  I have setup "MainSite" on DNN 4.7 on that server and have added "Company1" as a subdomain on the ISP server.  I have also added "Company1.MainSite.com" in the host headers on our IP site's INETPUB www root folder.  I have also setup a new portal on MainSite.com designated "MainSite.com/Client1" as a child portal.

When I open a browser and enter http://Company1.MainSite.com the site that is called up is the MainSite.com site with its skin, not the Company1.MainSite.com default skin.  Browser address shows correctly as Company1.MainSite.com but the site is actually still MainSite.com.

Could somone help me with the one item I missed above to make this function as a true subdomain rather than folder...

Thanks, David

Hi Brian,

I have similar problem with my website URL.

The URL of my website is http://www.website.com/mywebsite/. I want to remove the mywebsite from the URL and it should be only http://www.website.com.  Currently IIS is pointing to parent directory of DNN website.

What setting will required in IIS and web.config? How I can use HostHeader?

Your help will highly appreciated

Thanks,
Mahesh

That is a possibility, however you won't be able to use Friendly URLs to do it.  You will need to set up that subdomain in your DNS to point to the DotNetNuke website, as well as adding a Host Header in IIS for that URL, and then create a Portal Alias for the portal using that URL.

Hope it helps,

What's up all,
Is there any way to configure the "friendly url" option in DNN to make a child portal look like this:

http://child1.mysite.com

instead of:

http://www.mysite.com/child1

This is extremely easy.  Don't use a child portal, use a parent portal.

Jeff
