hi,

I have downloaded a DNN project froma remote server. I have created a virtual directory for it by name DNN. The project uses the database on the remote server. Now, when i access the site as http://localhost/DotNetNuke, it goes to the original location of the project (ie Remote server location).

I have a couple of questions.

1. How do i change the solution to use the solution on my machine?

2. If i change my SuperUserRole to True in the table, will that give me host access to the site?

Any suggestion is welcome in this regard.

Thanks

V

Hi Leupold,

Thank you for your response. The answer for the second question is clear for me.

Coming to the first Qn reg Portal alias, Do I need to remove the existing portal alias that points to the remote server and add Localhost address? Because, even if I add the portal alias and access the site as http://localhost/dotnetnuke, it goes to the remote site only :(..

I want to make changes to the skin on my local machine and have it reflected on the site locally. I dont want to disturb the site on the server.

Please let me know how to proceed.

Thanks

usually adding should be sufficient, sometimes however you need to move your local address to first place by accessing directly the portalalias table in database.
