David,

did you try to re-register ASP.Net, and (2nd option) reinstall .Net Framework and its service pack?

Hey Sebastian

Solved it.

I ended up having to completely reinstall ASP.NET 2+.  Your second option - which I had thought of as a last resort but was reluctant to do until until your post.

There was some software I needed to do this for a full clean of ASP.NET to remove it properly first but now everything is ok.

Thanks

David

Hi,

I'm just a bit curious. Why would re-installing .NET 2.0 solve your problem? I don't understand.

Thanks,

Duc

It actually happened again after, but might have been due to the way I fixed it the first time as it seems ok now.

I don't know the technical reason why it solved the problem, but it seems there was some sort of curruption of those files, which I just couldn't fix through any restarts.  As it affected other things (eg webmail) and DNN wasn't even loading an error message the problem appeared to be something in Windows itself.  Other websites (not using ASP.NET) were also working so IIS, DNS seemed like they might have been ok too. The error message did mention a problem with ASP.NET 2.

It's happened again now - twice.

Websites are all down and the second time I have been unable to fix this.  I've tried twice to resinstall ASP.NET but it's not helping.  If in IIS I set it to ASP.NET 1 I get the DNN error message... if I set it to ASP.NET 2 I am getting nothing at all.

What can I possibly do?

Please help!
