The main difference, when you setup a portal on the HTTP system versus the file system, is file priviledges. When you create a new portal using HTTP, you have to go to the main portal folder and give NETWORK SERVICE full rights over the folder. Once you do that, it should work fine.

Now it gives me following error eventhough I have set the default document to default.aspx The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. Open the localhost home page, and then look for links to the information you want. Click the Back button to try another link. HTTP 404 - File not found Internet Information Services Please let me know why is this not working. thanks

Is DNN possibly changing the URL so that it no longer points to a place with the default.aspx, maybe trying to redirect to the localhost:12345 that the File-Based server had used?  Make sure that there's a portal alias setup for the new URL.
