the problem comes from the referenced js file - when i click on the shopping cart and then click home, a number of dotnetnuke related items are referenced via http, but the following 3 are also referenced via some custom code - as you can see the first is http and the next 2 are https , this is the reason for your message. You need to ensure that any custom code you're using is aware of the protocol being used so it can correctly reference it

Not quite sure I follow you.

My home page is NOT secure and when it is first displayed I do not get any messages.
My question is why is DNN still using HTTPS on the home page after visiting a secure page?
If you look at the address bar on the home page before and after navigating to the Shopping Cart you will see that the protocol has changed from HTTP to HTTPS. I assumed that because the home page is NOT secure, DNN would again use the HTTP protocol to display the page.

If I do as you say and follow the current protocol, then once I navigate to a secure page my entire site will switch to and stay with the HTTPS protocol and that is not what I want.

One more thing I noticed... If I navigate to the shopping cat page (Secured page) and then I navigate to a non-secured page like Support-About Us the site stays in HTTPS mode even though the Support-About Us page is not secure. Why does this happen?

i see what you mean. Typically i only use ssl on a page with a control such as the account login which does a postback, perhaps the protocol is only picked up on postback - what version of dnn are you running?

DNN Version  04.08.00

I got rid of the nag message on the home page by changing the Authorize.net link from HTTP to HTTPS, I think it should have been that way from the beginning. However, I still have the isuue of my site switching to HTTPS once I go to a secure page. The only pages that I have secured in my site are the login page, user account and shopping cart page. I am using Dynamic Login & Dynamic Registration by Data Springs, Inc. for my login page and user account page. I am using CataLooK as my shopping cart. Got them bnoth on SnowCovered.com.
