I've set up a subscription system.  I've adding pricing, tied it to paypal, etc.  I need help setting up one of the subscriptions to be free and 1 week.

We want to give people a free one week trial subscription.  Do you know how to do this?

Did you find out how to do this? I have the same question...

Yeah me too, I am assuming it's supposed to be easily acheived since the lack of response. I have tried like this but no luck on 2 localhost copies and 1 production version!

Set to Public Role and Auto Assignment.

Service Fee: 3999
Billing Period: 1 year

Trial Fee: 0.0
Trial Period: 7 Days

Looking at those settings one would logically assume that it costs nothing to register then after 7 days then you must pay the fee to reactivate that role. These settings produce no Expiration date(7 days or 1 year) and just assigns them to the role indefinately as far as I can tell.

Spent 2 weeks on this now and the production site cannot function without having this feature.

The only solution I found... and it is cludgy is to set a TRIAL group.  When users register you can have the TRIAL group auto assigned.  HOWEVER you then have to go in to each user profile and Reassign them to the TRIAL group with an expiry date.  This is done on the INDIVIDUAL USER ACCOUNT by assigning them the role with an expiry date.  THis is totally untenable when you have LOTS of traffic such as on my site.  A REAL PAIN.... I can't believe there is not a module which does this.

antlifp, came up with a similar solution however it's a pretty average one at that, I completely agree with you there. If you are thinking about running any sort of commercial site with a decent amount of traffic that solution is completely unaccepatable. My Clients are furious and are thinking about dropping DNN completely. We shouldn't have to waste time to learn how to rewrite the core for a feature that is supposed to be built in. Sorry for the whine, but DNN is really frustrating me lately ;)
