Hi.

Now i'm almost where i wanna be.

The magic key of having the correct portal showing up depending of the url you have to restart the ISS (at least on Vista, haven't tested yet on WinServer).

But the URL of the childportal is looking ugly.

My (new) Parent portal has as URL for the Home-Page  http://localhost/testportal/Home.aspx

The (old parent and now new) child has as URL after the first call http://localhost/Testportal/Default.aspx?alias=localhost/testportal/private&runningDefault=1 and when clicking on HOME in the menu it is correct http://localhost/testportal/private/Home.aspx

How to avoid the first awful long and unfriendly url? I guess by editing the default.aspx from the folder private which is the child portal. But i can't see / don't know what to edit here in which manner.

BTW: Maybe a wizzard for converting portals to child or back would be great in the next version.

Hi there

Maybe someine could help me here how to tell DNN to use the "nice" url from the very start?

Thanks

Kai

AFAIK there is no option to rewrite the redirect URL, mabye URLmaster from www.ifinity.com.au does provide a solution.

But isn't it strange that the child portal shows correctly the right page (HOME), and when clicking in the menu on HOME again, which should not alter anything, the URL will become "nice".

And what i still do not understand: you said in step 5 i have to edit the default.aspx of the child portal in the dedicated folder. I haven't touched it yet, but everything is working like desirede.
