I just was reading on StackOverflow about the use of Asynchronus Trackers with Google Analytics and was curious if this could be implemented into the core functionality of DNN's GA 'module'?

I am not sure what you would want to see here.  This implementation would be specific to each users integration with Google Analytics.  What information would be pushed separate?  I would think a lot of this would come down to custom modules, or other integrations, and not a core functionality.

Apparently Oliver's Google Analytics module uses this method.

Also note that the core DNN module does not track mobile hits...

I would be interested in this enhancement to the core module as well.

here's a snip from google:

Asynchronous Tracking is an alternative way to track website visitors with Google Analytics. Unlike a traditional installation, asynchronous tracking optimizes how browsers load ga.js so its impact on user experience is minimized. It also allows you to put your Analytics snippet higher in the page without delaying subsequent content from rendering. The Asynchronous Tracking requires a different Analytics snippet and a different syntax for making tracking API calls.

I may have glossed over the link I posted, however that was sent to me on StackOverflow regarding the use of multiple trackers in a single JS block. My issue being that I maintain my own Google Analytics account which I push out custom reports with. However, several clients -particularly resellers of my services, marketing folk- are requesting that I add their trackers as well.  I have attempted sharing in the past, and that just seems to blow their minds. I am open to any solutions I may have looked over.

However, from a code point of view, I prefer to try and get all the trackers /etc. in a single script command, and not pepper the document with multiple (redundant) blocks of Javascript... maybe I'm just being too picky, but it seems like it could slow things down. Now, I still can manually add the tracker info to the Default.aspx file, however that isn't really ideal, as it (urchin code) has to be replaced during each update (or does it? I just always seem to be re-adding it after upgrades).

Thanks for the discussion, I was worried this was just going to roll off into oblivion.

Wells
