For these scenarios, it would be useful if DNN had an advanced page setting that allowed you to configure a content source page, from any portal of the installation. Then, when the page is selected by the user, it could retrieve the content using the selected TabID rather than it's own, but using its own page settings.

I might have a look at the core code, to see if there's any way of extending it to do that.

Looks like it would need to override methods on page base, and there doesn't appear to be a way to configure a provider for pages or skins. So without actually changing the core code (which isn't an option), it doesn't look as though there's an easy way to do this.

Paul, I understand your idea, but due to permissions being restricted to a single site, this is not easy to implement without affecting security.

Still, it might be a useful enhancement for a future version of DNN. Given the design of the security system, I´m not sure how easy it would be to implement, but if there were a super-user facility to assign cross-portal permissions and an option to enable content sharing, it could enable some interesting scenarios for data sharing between related portals.
