I'd be interested to know if you're doing this for "SEO" or for "ease of use for end users."  In other words, are you doing this because it's easier to tell your users, "www.mysite.com/my-page" or because it will get you higher PRs.

My real purpose is for ease of launching a different platform and maintaining any search engine preferences I've already earned.

For SEO, it's just as easy for example.com/page.aspx as it is example.com/page.  However, I've already earned page rank for search traffic on example.com/page so I want to continue to present and link to that location.

Having the .aspx limits the frameworks I can use in the future and certainly the technologies I have to use in the future.

The bigger reason is preserving previous SEO efforts.  The search engine friendly URL's are pretty important to me.

Thanks for responding, I was just curious.  When I was asked to do "SEO" for our company website, I was surprised by how little factual information there was and how much misinformation there is on the topic.  I did research and found interviews with members of the search teams at Google and Microsoft (couldn't fidn the MS article) referencing the fact that URL type plays no role in determining search ranking, whether it have queries or fragments, etc.

I despise the dark arts aspect of SEO so much that the very term just makes me feel dirty all over.
