I have a client who has employed an SEO consultant and is now requesting that I add keywords to the site - no big deal, I know they're practically pointless but it's easier to just do it rather than get into some harried argument with the guy and frustrate the client. Problem is that the keyword list he's wanting added is ~6,800 characters long. When I copy these into the Page Settings > Page Details > Keywords section, the keywords get trimmed down to 500 characters. Any suggestions on how I can go about getting all these keywords in?

Thanks!

You might be able to use JQuery to add  or change the keywords.

My concern with that is whether the engines would 'see' the change, as most jQuery I've seen is executed upon a full load of the document - after the SE Spider has already 'read' the information.

lol you have an SEO consultant recommending a string of 6800 characters for keywords? That's funny. Sounds like he's making good money for not knowing anything :D

Chris, yep that's the case - but I've learned sometimes it's better to just go along rather than to put the client in the middle of a SEO argument... I probably could dismantle his entire strategy in one sitting, but at the end of the day a pissing contest only gets everyone covered in urine :)

I've pretty much just pasted in the Keywords and if it becomes an issue, the truth as I see it is that the 500char limit is a hard limit that would require restructuring of the database which would aslo make the site harder to maintain over the long run (I'm assuming) and I can still provide many references (including Google's Blog) that state that meta keywords are nearly useless compared to good, quality, semantically marked up content rich with keywords and search phrases.
