How can I set up a Security Role that will allow my site editors to create parent, or root-level pages? If I can't, why not?

you may need to create a parent page and grant permission to it. you may also consider using advanced Permission Provider, e.g. from www.oliverhine.com

Hi, thanks for the reply....

Here is what I have done so far....

1) Created a new Security Role called Site Owner
2) Added one user to that role.
3) Granted that Role Full Control over all parent and child pages on the site, except for the Admin Page.

When logged in as the Owner I can not add modules to the page and can not create Parent Pages.  Thus, I'm either doing something wrong or the site Administrator is the only one with true full control over the site.

What I'm trying to accomplish is to customize the Modules that users can see and place on the page and I'm making a custom Admin page that will only show some of the choices that a full admin has. As far as I can tell, allowing users to create child pages, but not parent pages, serves no purpose.  Of course it may be a programming issue that I do not fully understand.

One of the main reasons why we purchased the Pro Version so that it would have grandular control over users. Is that 2k down the drain?

Now I'm just ranting...  Sebastian, thanks so much for all your help. I'll look into that module you suggested.

Ok, I did figure out the Module issue but not the Parent Page issue.

For the Module you need to go to Admin >> Extensions, and edit the settings for each module you want to give permissions for. As far as I can tell you have to do this for each portal. you can't do it from the Host Menu.

I have come across the same issue and can't find any more help than this post.  I want to have a custom role be able to create pages on my site, including top level pages.  I've tried the OliverHine extension but that doesn't allow it, the restriction of allowing the parent page to be none still exists.  So I tried creating a  special top level page thats hidden and all the actual pages underneath it.  This works other than the url for these new pages is now www.site.com/Home/FirstPage   'Home' is my hidden root page but I don't want it to be part of the url.  Is there a way to change this.

I'm using DNN 7.1
