A user on one of my sites created some folders they do not need. They stated that they could not delete them... could oddities about this:

  1. I cannot see them on the sever at all. It is as if they don't exist but are in the file manager on DNN.
  2. As a host I cannot get them deleted because when I highlight the folder all action buttons turn gray...
Can anyone provide any advice on how to delete these folders from the File Manager? I am lost on this one. Thanks.

did you perform a full recursive file sync in admin > file manager?
in Folder permissions grid, which row shows the lock icons?

It is really strange. I have performed the file sync as you stated and double checked again. The folders that are in the DNN file manager are not on the server. It makes no sense to me. it is as if they are orphaned.

If you click on the folder in question on the left view all buttons turn gray. There fore I cannot delete it.

Anyone else have any ideas here on this issue?

I've faced with the same problem recently.

After analyzing an entry for the "phantom" folder in the database table [Folders] I've noticed that there was no '/' in the end of the FolderPath string.

So the problem was solved by adding the '/' symbol to the end of the FolderPath field in the database and then performing a recursive sync in the Portal's File Manager. After resynchronization the "phantom" folder disappeared both from the database and File Manager.
