Thanks Joe.

This problem is driving me nuts! The other day 4 of my sites went off line and displayed the Under Construction page. I restart them by over writing the web.config file but it reoccurred on two of my sites a couple hours later and on another site it happened three times in the same day. I felt like I was playing whack a mole. Extremely nerve wracking to get an email from client saying their site is off line again. I've got to nail down the cause and fix this problem.

Hi Richard,

The following is from one of our developers.  I'm not sure if this applies or will resolve your problem, but I thought I would post it regardless.

"I’ve seen issues like this when the Database version is out of sync with the DLL version of the system.  I’d suggest checking the Version table in the database and determine what the current version is (always the last row).

Also, check to see if AutoUpgrade in the web.config is set to true.  If it is, just set it to false.  That setting tends to cause issues like this."

Thanks,

Joe

Richard: Have a look at Website\Portals\_default\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources file and look for newer entries. There might be some entries here for database connectivity issues. Look for latest entries only. Just a caution: this file is formatted as XML, so it's not very easy to read. If you loose database connection, there won't be any entry in Event Viewer.

BTW DNN 6.0 is going to have extended (additional) logging outside of the database to record such events in a systematic manner.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the tips I really appreciate it. I did double check and the DB version is the same as the DLL. Also checked AutoUpgrade and it is set to true.
