OMG.

I'm thinking that DNN is the most limiting platform ever.   I'm hoping you can tell me I wrong.

My developer partner has told me we're limited with :

e-Commerce solution - forced to use Authorize.Net,  which sucks because it's so complicated.

Email notifications - we're using SendGrid,  which works OK,  but we can't send our users a notification when their clients have viewed videos.

Videos -  We needed to use JW Player which sucks because the frame of the video leaves a green line on some of the videos on the right hand side.

Admin Panel - The admin panel is ugly and non-flexible.  Like we can't have our reporting sort by certain titles,  for instance  we have : Date, Name, Email, Date Subscribed, Type of Plan.   We can't allow the user to sort this report by say Type of Plan or Date Subscribed.

And here's the KILLER.   The client has now had a page designed in HTML  and now I'm being told we can't use it because the most important feature :  Username and Password  is unusable because again according to my developer we're using DNN.

Please give me some guidance.. and tell me that DNN is the most flexible platform,  I'm just going about it the wrong way.

It sounds like your developer partner may be more limited than DNN.

1) You can use any payment gateway if you write the code.

2) I've never used sendgrid but you can add code to a page to trigger an email when viewed. I do something silimar on a page on my company intranet.

3) I'm pretty sure there are other players that can be used for DNN. Either that or you may have a style issue causing the green line.

4) The admin site isn't pretty, that I will admin. However, you can create your own skin and apply it to their like you can the non-admin side. If you need a customer report, create it as a module, drop it on a new page and that solves your problem.

5) Why is the new page unusable? You can style the DNN log in page to match the page that was created.

We may need a little more information about the issues but it sounds like you have more flexability than you've been told.

Agree with Mark on the Developer limitation...

Check out store.dotnetnuke.com for yourself and you can find a module to do just about anything

mark.

Thanks so much for your reply!

The client had their designer design this page : adrenalclothing.com/Realtors.html

However,  you see the UN and PW fields in the upper right hand corner?

My developer says we can't activate those without a ton of coding because we're using DNN.

you can login to the site here http://www.ssrulebook.com/realtor/Realtors.html   : with UN: troomobile PW : keswick

DNN is the most flexible solution with over 10K plug-ins, the framework allows you to get a site up and running in a few min, install a skin and apply it to both the site and admin control panel, or install 2 skins one for your control panel and one for your site, or install 10 skins and use a new skin on 10 different pages, the choice is yours. You can build and create 100's of containers (the look and feel of your modules, blocks, content area's, or whatever you want to call it)

You can style content modules directly - how is that a limit?

Collaborate your developers HTML with a copy of your installed skin and just rename it instead of page.ascx name it whatever.ascx and merge them, use the DNN tokens to facilitate login controls, or just merge their HTML in - simple, I do it daily.

Use paypal or whatever you want to authorize payments.

Email -Blasts and notification?  there are a ton of options here (http://store.dotnetnuke.com)
All scheduler based, I used to send out emails from 40 different web sites within 1 install of DNN.

Videos? (http://store.dotnetnuke.com)  I use Ultra Video Galley, super impressed, I feel like a star using it.

DotNetNuke is a crazy platform, and I can't think of another platform that has the flex this does.
- Sounds like the only limitation is your partner.

All of my personal sites use DNN and so do my clients.

I hope this helps
