I can not get the admin area at the top of the screen to go away for normal members.

Everyone that joins has the pannel at the top. Any idea how to get this removed?

Thanks

check the permissions for the page - everyone, who has edit permission for the page (not the modules on it) gets the panel applied. Also check the role properties - it is of no good, if e.g. the admin role gets assigned to all users automatically.

  • page settings for the page, where users see the admin area
  • admin menu item user roles - check the members of admin and all roles, you gave access to write on pages.
