I am pretty sure this has been asked in the past, but the registration email that is sent to the new member!!

Is there a way to change it? I would like to include a lot of information about the site plus not send the password

Searching all over admin but can't find the ability anywhere

Thanks

Mark

I know that after 3 .5 years it's probably not relevant to the topic starter any more, but for other people looking for an answer to this question: The email template (in DNN7) is located under Admin -> Advanced Settings -> Languages. There you can select whether you want to edit the static resources/resourcekeys on system, host or site level (I don't know what the difference between system and host level would be)

The registration mail is located under the EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_PRIVATE_BODY.Text value, the subject line is locates under EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_PRIVATE_SUBJECT.Text

The interface is so very bad that you's probably be better of locating the .resx file
GlobalResources.resx, GlobalResources.Host.resx, GlobalResources.[language].Portal-x.resx depending on which level/language you're editing.

Does somebody know if there is a way to sent these messages programatically? I'm building an import but the createUser call only creates the user, it does not send this the message to the new user like when you create a new user using the gui.

You can do a sendmail in your code

string smtpServer =Convert.ToString(DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.HostSettings["SMTPServer"]);
string smtpAuthentication =Convert.ToString(DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.HostSettings["SMTPAuthentication"]);
string smtpUsername =Convert.ToString(DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.HostSettings["SMTPUsername"]);
string smtpPassword =Convert.ToString(DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.HostSettings["SMTPPassword"]);
stringxResult = DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail("from@yahoo.com", "to@yahoo.com","", "", DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.MailPriority.Normal, "This is the Subject!", DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.MailFormat.Text, System.Text.Encoding.UTF8, "This is the Body", "", smtpServer, smtpAuthentication, smtpUsername, smtpPassword);

I have thrown away the log in and register module on DNN for a more simplier using code I added to Wiki some time ago.

If you use SendEmail() instead of SendMail(), you do not need to bother about the SMTP settings.

But the real problem is getting the "This is the body" part. To construct the message body I need to find out which language (=which resx file) I should use, check wether it is overruled in a host level resx file, and whether it is overrules in the site level resx file and parse the tokens.

I hope there exists something like getTokenised("EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_PRIVATE_BODY.Text", currentUser.preference("Language")) or parseTokens(GetLocalised("EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_PRIVATE_BODY.Text")) or
SendSystemEMail("USER_REGISTRATION_PRIVATE");

NB. I'm aware of the link to the wiki you provided, but that doesn't send an email either. (I've even made a change to that page yesterday, which is currently under review. The link to floating-point.com is dead.)
