Hi Chris,

It would be cool if it could allow you to shadow any module rather than just copying it over. As is I just add 'existing module' and choose the Inventua module I want to shadow when I put it on a page - that is going one page at a time using DNN controls.

I would assume it would need to be able to let you choose the pages and panes to put the modules on and a place to copy the instance from - either with a dropdown or perhaps a list of tabids.

You should download (free for 3 days) the one I list above and see what that does (or does not do). Like I say, I could not get it to work but it looks to be on the right track, but I think lacks module content copying which is essential.

Thanks,

Will

Did you contact "The DNN Group" about that module? It's pre-order so it may be BETA?  They might have a solution for you.

I didn't find the download, if you forward it to me I'll take a look and if those guys don't respond or they dropped support for that module then I'll build this.

In regards to features, I would have it assume you wanted the module being shadowed to be placed into the same skin pane but I can offer an override.  That would also be required if the page your dropping it on doesn't have the same pane name in the skin as the original.

Also, wouldn't that be better as a skin object or added to the page Control Panel? That way you will always have instance access to it, but it would require a more complicated install.

Or... maybe not even have it in DNN itself.  Maybe that would be best implemented in a Windows and Mac application where you can manage it all from your desktop (or...your iPhone, Android.....ahem Windows 8 phone).

There used to be commercial offering called "Module Master" which was perfect for this. I still use it and find it very useful indeed. But it looks like it has been removed from the DNN Store. Searches for "Module Master" gives no useful results.

This is a great little module from Oliver Hind and is really helping speed up the process. I highly recommend it for every DNN installation. It is so clunky to do any admin functions under DNN 7 - add modules etc., this handy add on makes it more like the good old days.

The correct name is Oliver Hine and it's not a module, but a control panel, but I fully agree, that ACP is the most productive one. :)
