For any domain name ... Local or otherwise you need a way for the web browser to resolver the name. To a physical IP address ... This has nothing to do with dnn ... It's how the internet works.

On your development machine ... The most common approach would be to edit your hosts file .. And add a entry for any local only domain names that resolve to 127.0.0.1

Hi Westa,
Bingo. Thank you.

I had forgotten to put the entry into the local hosts file to point it to 127.0.0.1 back to the local name.  I do not do a lot of this sort of work. It is entirely my fault to forget that record in the hosts file and I apologise for making such a "newb" error. All I can say is I am 50 next month and my memory for all these details is not what it used to be! LOL!

The upgraded forums on the site are not working and I am getting other errors too...but at least I have a place to test things which is not my production sites.

Thanks again for the pointer....I just didn't remember that entry.

Best Regards Peter
