strange, atm I have no idea. You might use fiddler or network tab in browser development tools to trace redirects.

I have seen some odd issues with skins that inject custom scripts
 - often via jquery -  that are causing more and more issues with parts of the admin interface.

Using firefox or chrome - you might try turning on the developer console  CTL-SHIFT-I in chrome.
And trying turning on debugging - then try to load the problem page - keep a watch out for an javascript errors that trigger.
