I have just found DNN and I have created my first dnn portal. It runs ok the first time of going through the portal build. When I stop the application andtry to run it again it does not work. I get a DNS error message.

Can anyone put some light on this?

It would kind of help if we knew WHAT error message you got.  Just saying you got a DNS error don't help much.  Also saying DNN doesn't work don't help at all......what happened?

Also - you should explain better how you "stopped" the application. 

  1. Stopped the web in IIS
  2. Stopped the AppPool assigned
  3. Stopped the WWW service

etc. 

Did you create a new portal within your DNN install and can't get it to resolve and:

  • the original one works
  • the original one does not work

I ask that because I have had some name resolution issues when trying to create new parent portals within DNN.

I stop the application by closing the VS2005 development and login off the machine then loggin on again. The DNS error I get is "Can not find the Server. DNS error. Internet Explorer". I have also tried all sorts of aliases "MyNuke", www.MyNuke.com" I have also added a record in the host file for www.Mynuke.com". I can ping it too.
