I did exactly the same this morning and was about to post my question when I saw this one. I also imported a page into what I thought was the home page and found out too late that I had just overwritten the site settings page. And just as the original post mentioned, the Site settings module/page is not in the recycle bin or even showing in the host extensions list (I'm also a novice, but I imagine it would have originally been there?). We only have one website using DNN so I cant even copy/export the site settings page from another one into the one I just messed up.

SiteSettings module should be listed in Host > Extensions, otherwise there might have happened a significant upgrade issue.
