OK - in " Admin" - "Site Settings" page...Advanced settings > Security Settings - there is a field called Administrator - it is set to "SuperUser Account"

This account is not found in the Admin > User Accounts page.

However, under "Host" - "SuperUser Accounts" - there is a username called "admin" (display name: "SuperUser Acount") ...which has the email address "admin@wsmforums.com"

This is the email address that is used in "Host"  - Host Settings > SMTP Server Settings.

If the admin user is not listed in Admin > Users, I suggest using a local member of the Administrators role.

Under Admin - I went to Security Roles and selected "Manage Users in Role: Administrators"

The "SuperUser Account" - is listed there.  Doesn't that mean that account is already part of that role?

yes, it is, but superusers are treated a bit different, therefore I strongly suggest using a local admin account instead.
