On a fresh install of DNN 8.03, when the Admin file manager is used (superuser login) , you cannot upload a file to a created subfolder. You get a Value cannot be null. Parameter name: folder error. I can upload to the root folder and then move the file. This is in Firefox, which most of our team users.

I can get around this error just by uploading to the root folder, then moving the file. But I thought I would still report this.

I did read a little about this, but there did not seem to be a firm solution that I can find.

(Edit: I deleted a file already in a subfolder, and re-uploaded it to that folder without the error. So it works sometimes. Not sure what the parameters are that changed it (sync, cache, etc).

There is no Event entry. Maybe it is some type of javascript or ajax error. I found it does work without issue in Microsoft Edge. In many cases, in Firefox, when clicking a folder, I just get a spinning circle overlay with everything washed out behind it (even though I can click the items through it). It just hangs. In Edge that does not happen.

I guess this is just browser specific. It is pretty obvious in Firefox the folder path is not getting handled somehow. When uploading a test1.jpg file to a folder tree called /images/home, you get a text message with a partially scrolled scrollbar with the Value cannot be null error, and the path simply shows as /test1.jpg, not /images/home/test1.jpg as it does in Edge.

No errors looking in the debugger. But I did find something! Not sure these all relate but they may.

In the file manager, there is a little folder icon in the top right. In Firefox, it does not add the path. If that path is missing, then that parameter is not passed to the upload popup. But, if you begin your session by hitting the Refresh option from the dropdown, then all subfolders populate, and things work.

I noticed these differences.

In Edge: "Root" will show when you hit refresh.
In Firefox, it remains blank. But when you hit the next folder in the tree the name populates. But you can still upload to the root folder even without the name.

In Edge, the folders auto-populate based on the last folder you were in, when you begin your next session (it shows in the top-right).
In Firefox, you need to go back to the root folder, use the Refresh option, then when you browse after that the folder shows in the top-right.

It appears to be something regarding cached pages, or setting up form data or variables. Hitting refresh takes care of that. Maybe Edge automatically does this upon load, or does not use cached info (just guessing).

But I can get it to work in Firefox now, I just need to hit Refresh first (from the root tree, not a subfolder).
