...not really a true single-sign on system. Really it's a behavioural hangover from an early version of dotnetnuke, we intend to implement a true single-sign on system at some point, part of the reason for the extensive roles/profiles changes in recent versions were to allow us to support this...

I understand the significance of the possibility to have multi-portal single sign-on behaviour. however, most of my customers have their own userbase and if i sell an empty portal with design i need to give an empty userbase. As it would turn out now i would be forced back to creating instances and such to keep the userbase empty. There is no relation or whatsoever between my fotomodel website or my rpg website. They frequently find the same names to use. (they all want to be dragon, queen etc.)

So i hope that when they 'fix' it, they make it possible to use mpsso (multi-portsal sso) or psso (single-portal sso) or even better: selected portals sso. (the host can combine several portals with one userbase)

the reason i don't like to build multiple instances is simple: software cost. i buy lots of modules and most of them are nased on a single instance. (and as many portals as you like) currently i have 3 full instances running: an old version 1.1 dnn (one portal), a 3.0 dnn(one portal) and a 4.3.4 portal (multiple portals) and i cant consolidate to just one portal due to useraccount issues.

Thanks everyone for pointing me out in this direction, i now know where to look at :)
