Click on Admin / Settings / Advanced / Other /  You will see a dropdown box - called Set Locale - select there for your language.

Thanks Nina,

I only have a drop down box for "Default Language" which is already set to the only choice English (US) but there is no drop down box for Set Locale. Is this the same thing? Maybe I have to make (compile) a new language which includes the edited Localized item(s)?... and then select it here? If so, how do I make that new language file?

Thanks again,
John

John,

that is the text box, Nina is refering to. If you need to localize DotNetNuke, you need to install an appropriate language pack, have a look at dotnetnuke.com language pack directory for the appropriate file. upload it using host >> languages :: Upload Language Pack

Thanks Leupold,

There's only one value I wanted to localize and I edited it and saved as described above, but DNN still uses the default value.

Do I perhaps have to make a compete new localized language pack with this altered value and then upload it?

If so, how do I "make" my own language pack (version) which includes this new edited value?

Thanks...
John

John,

no, creating and uploading a language pack is only exporting and re-importing the resource files. In the language editor, have a look into all /admin/users files and all /admin/security files as well as the globallocalization.resx file, a few of the resource keys are occuring twice, because they are used in slightly different situations.
