could anyone tell me how to change the seach input from the standard DNN text "search" button to a custom button on a particular skin?
I though it could be done in the CSS here:
#dnn_dnnSEARCH_txtSearch { text-align: left; vertical-align: middle;  height:20px; background: transparent; width: 120px; color: #666666; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; border: 1px solid #999999; cursor:text; font-size: 17px; background-position: center;}
I tried to add the background image to this but I can't get rid of the "search" text.

where do I go from here? I know it can be done I have seen it on other sites...

Thanks in advance

Mark Hollas

From Tyler Fawcett's Tranquility 2007 skin:

CSS:
----------------------------------
.SearchTD a:link, .SearchTD a:visited, .SearchTD a:active, .SearchTD a:hover {width: 46px; padding: 2px 44px 5px 0; _padding: 0 0 5px 0; height: 20px; background: url(search.gif) no-repeat; text-decoration: none;}

Skin ASCX code:
----------------------------------
<td class="SearchTD" valign="top">
  <dnn:SEARCH runat="server" id="dnnSEARCH" Submit="&nbsp;" CssClass="GoButton" />
</td>

The free skin is at http://tfdnn.com.  I learned a couple of cool tricks from it, and am playing with modifying it as a base for a site.

Thanks Jeff, you just reminded me of one of my favorite threads:

Tyler is certainly one talented and funny guy.

Yeah this thread was really funny and the good news is that we can run it again, because Tyler changed the license a bit, and it is not 100% clear to me if I am allowed to change the imaging of the skin.

I'll just go ahead and quickly summarize:

I'm glad that's over.
