Just one more hint: make sure that you didn't accidently changed the level attribute of the Treeview skin object. If this attribute is missing, you'll get the described error message. The original value is level="root".

your using I think 4.7 or something of DNN.  I remember the default skin with that, for vertical tree menu has that problem.  I cant remmber hte fix...but for me the fix would be to download 4.8 and install it.  if it still does it, then the skin didn't copy properly....after upgrading to 4.8, then just copy teh skin files if they didnt' copy properly, but I didn't have any problem going to 4.8.

 

I do remmeber that exact problem though when I first started, and it was indeed whatever version was jsut before 4.08 :->

Either way, the default skin, when working, will do it no problem..and it works fine in 4.08 on my server and my laptop

i tried the vertical menu. It is functional but I was not impressed.

Do you have in mind something else?

I want something more fancy.

Sorry, no, I don't have anything else in mind. I don't use tree menus at all, because they are ... well, as you said: functional! But have a look at the menu skin objects at www.snowcovered.com. Also, www.telerik.com has a tree menu für DNN with various skins.
