Like Jan said, you're making it tough to help you with what's probably an easy fix.

Anyway, without knowing what version of DNN you're running, there were a couple of releases that had some css styles predefined in the root level portal.css style sheet that would lead to some of the behavior you describe.

A quick way to see if that's the issue is to login as Admin, go to Site Settings, and open up the Stylesheet Editor near the bottom of the page. You might see some defined styles in there, and if you didn't do them, then clear them out and make sure you click "Save Style Sheet" to save your changes. Go back to your page and refresh and see if things have closed up to what you expect.

FYI, these settings were used to define the look of the default home page of certain DNN installs.

man this is frustrating.........

i found the table definitions of the page. i set the border to 1 so i can see the blank spaces - but what i find is the table is bordering the nav bar at the top - soooo they are in fact right next to one another. so where does the space come from? the space comes from the elements in the content not being valigned to the top. instead....they are valigned to the bottom. but in the style sheet they are set to valign=top

so i did a viewsource on the page.....there are two divs which belong to classes which i can not identify. here they are:

    <div class="c_content">
        <div id="dnn_ctr407_ContentPane" class="Normal c_contentpane DNNAlignleft">

do you have any idea where these classes are defined??? i can't find them. i'm guessing they have a valing=bottom which is over-riding my stylesheet.

btw......now i realize you could be using a completely different type of style but......when YOU add a module to a pane and then another module to the pane beneath it......are they flush up against one another? can you make them be flush up against one another by adjustments in your CSS?

YES, most definitely yes! Down to the pixel.

Have you looked at the root level portal.css, skin level skin.css, container level skin.css, and finally in the desktopmodules subfolder for the module that you are using? There are many palces where css styles are picked up while being delivered to the page.

From what you just described, the best p[lace to look right now is to identify the container that you are using for the misbehaving module and go find it's style sheet in the corresponding container folder.
