Are you moving from one dotnetnuke instance (separate code/database) to another DNN instance? Or are you working within multiple portals of the same instance?

It's possible the skin itself requires some library files that may be in the BIN folder at the root of your website, but without looking at the skin itself (the ascx source) I couldn't really tell you which ones.

Are the versions of DNN the same between the two?

I'm using the very latest version - 5.31. I'ts a separate instance with a completely separate db. I hadn't thought about the bin file - I'll check the .ascx file as well and see what I'm missing. I'm trying to keep this instance pretty clean in terms of files. The vendor who set this up has files everywhere - graphics mixed in with docs and so forth - makes if very difficult to find anything. I'll check first thing in the morning and report back. Thanks so much for sticking with this newb... I'd say I would go buy your book - but I already put it on my wishlist at nerdbooks and will pick it up tomorrow.

I finally got it going and have been modifying the containers and skins to suit this new site. I have another question about modules, if you're willing.... Some of the standard modules are not enabled on the new site that I would like to turn on to match the existing site. I just cant seem to figure out where to enable them - I've been in extensions, module manager and a number of other places and can't figure out how to do it. Also, there are a number of modules that on the original site that I see need to be included in the new one as well - is that a straight copy as well or do I need to find the original packages again and start from scratch. Thanks so much for your help. Bob

On the host/extensions page (as a super user) go to the Actions menu next to the extensions module and click on the Install Available Extensions option, there you will find a list of the core modules that aren't installed by default.

As for other modules, those won't be easy to just copy and paste like the skin was. Many modules require installation scripts and processes to be run during the installation, those won't be completed by simply copying and pasting the modules. You will need to have the install packages for the modules in order to get them on another site easily.
