Hans,

If you're using the default skin for Dotnetnuke, you'll need to go into the skin template file and add an additional Pane in that position. It can usually be found int he following directory: Portals/_default/Skins/MinimalExtropy/

There will be a .ascx file, which represents the HTML layout of the skin plus the controls for all the dynamic areas, such as the navigation, breadcrumb and panes.  When you add the additional pane make sure to give it unique ID otherwise it will cause an error. Also make sure to create a copy of the original file so you can revert back if you make any mistakes.
