Try to keep the discussion on topic. Personal preferences can confuse someone who is looking for help. The mentioned attribute is simply an inline style compatible with all browsers.

Thanks to all of your wonderful advice and my stubbornness, the SEARCH is now, white, the correct font and size, and everything lines up (close enough.) As soon as I get something on there besides the menu (LOL!) I will post a link and show you what you've helped me do!

During all this though, somehow I lost the "3-d" look inside the SEARCH box. Is there a way to get that back without messing up everything I just fixed?

Thank you all so much for your generous help!

Dear mbjohnson

A 3D look is very simple.
Look first at the standard code for the .NormalTextBox
Is there no border set then leave it like it was and set in the css of the skin no other border settings.
Look at my code: I've just set all the border the same...
When you set the border-top, the border-left the same color and the border-right and the border-bottom another color then you have a 3D effect with different colors then the standard colors.
  Hope this will help.

That sounds like no problem. Thank you Gilbert, I couldn't have figured out all this without your help :)
