Hi there

I recently upgraded to DNN 6 and now the system says that my skin is legacy.

We are in the process of redesigning the site, and I just wanted to know what the major differences are between Skins for DNN 5 and DNN 6.

I have read through the Skin Wiki and its docs, but there doesn't really seem to be anything specific for DNN 6.

Can anyone shed any light on what I should be changing / updating in my skin?

heres a wiki post covering whats new in DNN6 for devs/skinners - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/DotNetNuke-6-Developer-Quick-Start.aspx . AFAIR the "legacy" setting is just an indication that your skin package does not contain a manifest file (i.e. .dnn file) . There is no particular need to update a running skin - however if you wanted to distribute it it's a good idea to have a manifest as it allows you to ensure dependencies are in place and that it can be uninstalled and will remove those dependencies.

Thanks for that Cathal, ill have a look at that DNN 6 doc.

Since I will never distribute this skin, i guess I can ignore the "legacy" status.

I appreciate your help in clearing that up :)

I use Artisteer to create the skins for my sites and have encountered an issue with DNN6.

When I use a horizontal menu and have submenus, they drop BEHIND the content of the page and are inaccessible.  This does not occur in DNN5.

Does anyone have an idea of where I should start looking to fix this issue?  It is the only thing stopping me from moving our live sites to DNN6.

And, yes, I use submenus a lot.  LOL

Thanks

John

That sounds like a Z-Index issue

Just increase the Z-Index on the menu in the CSS and that should fix it.
