that is, how RVSP is working. By entering an RVSP code, the user becomes member of the roles that you associated with that code.

Right, I realize that a registered user may add himself with an RSVP code, however, doesn't the role then have to be made public?

Supposing I created a custom 'OfficeAdmin' role that I only want company employees to have the ability to enroll in. I wouldn't want to have that role be public and allow clients to see that that role exists.

And if the verification code could be used, it would save the users one extra step.

Any suggestions?

Ok - this is how RSVP codes work.

In Manage Services a user can self-subscribe to any Public role using the Subscribe/Unsubscribe button.

An RSVP code can subscribe to any role (Public or Private) depending on how the admin has set up the roles.

This is a list of what an RSVP code can do:

  1. Allow the user to subscribe to multiple roles at once (if more than one role has the same code)
  2. Allow the user to subscribe to private roles (by being invited to use the code by an admin)
  3. Allow the user to subscribe to public fee-based roles without paying the fee.

Thanks Charles. I hope I am not trying your patience.

I think I could make use of the 'private' role, but being a newbie and all, I have not discovered where the invitees would enter the sent RSVP code in order to add themselves. Could you let me know where they would do so, or provide any links to relevent articles that describe the private role feature?

Ok, I figured it out. As you said, keep the role group private, but create an RSVP code in the Advanced section. Then, when users browse to their 'manage account' page, they can enter the code in a text box. Sweet. Very nice. Thank you all for your help. I did try to reference this topic in the book 'Professional DotNetNuke 4', but nothing is mentioned about RSVP. I hope I am not making too much of a newbie nuisance of myself.
