It took me awhile to figure out how to build the DNN Module Toolkit and then upload the project's bin files (e.g. DotNetNuke.ModuleToolkit.dll) to my website's bin folder and basically added a new datatype to the Host --> Lists --> Datatypes menutree.

The object qualifier name for the new datatype entry I used was DotNetNuke.ModuleToolkit.Controls.ImageEditControl, DotNetNuke.ModuleToolkit

I can't seem to figure out why the ImageEditControl and the FileEditControl always defaults to Normal View Mode rather than File Upload View Mode. Notice how there is no upload command.

Also, everytime I go to select an image from the file dropdownlist I get the following error message:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I has this problem too

User Profile Add to attribute the problem Photo
Last week, for DNN would like to add photos of the User Profile. The results to find relevant information to see, is not as easy to like,一hard to find. Found http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/111/threadid/232413/scope/posts/Default.aspx
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/111/threadid/237513/scope/posts/threadpage/3/Default.aspx
And here I have the same problem, almost simultaneously, and I also participate in, now that have not yet been resolved, so I have in this post. Domestic programmers think we should be stronger than them.

Because of the time difference the issue tomorrow to see the results. Now they are sleeping it.

I think from the forum module in the profile of a breakthrough. Recently, sourceforge.net GW was closed, hard to find a mirror http://mirror.optus.net/sourceforge/ the forum module source packages will be downloaded.

This module found that the directory structure and I studied the development of the DNN modules are very different, I do not know how to set up and added to the VS2005 in the complie and debug.

I first tried,
(Figure), check the forum (04.04.03), after installation, find it strange, did not find the installation package, how will be installed so soon, can not be downloaded. In m2land's help, understand that in the (dnn \ Install \ Module directory, such as the Blog_03.04.00_Install.resources. Resources suffix of the document is the installation package, will be renamed as the zip direct resources.)
This was installed after the forum, is certainly normal and available.
I then tested in the user profile forum to add avatar, can display pictures, normal, the administrator can also add more than one picture. Ordinary users can only add one (in this process, I also encountered a few problems and to resolve the Keyword "An Error Has Occurred When Attempting To Save The File"], if you have this problem, please Contact me, QQ7844103 verification: DNN).
Then, I will \ dnn \ DesktopModules \ Forum directory backup, will extract the forum source, copied to the \ dnn \ DesktopModules \ Forum directory.
Compiler, really wrong, but I do not know how to, to make it normal. Ascx clearly document the code behide in the same directory, or can not find error.
It appears that some documents are not to put app_code directory, so it need not change the web.config. Is that right »
We look forward to your help.

The Module Toolkit that I created as a DNN Forge project was primariliy developed to provide services for a second DNN Forge project "Article Manager".  I mentioned the Module Toolkit earlier in this thread for two reasons.

  1. You might be able to use it as-is - if so great.
  2. The example code might give you an idea on how to develop your own Image Upload control.

At the moment I do not have the time to develop/support this codeplex project.  There is a team being put together to manage the related Article Manager project which I created, and once they have come up to speed on that project I will be handing over responsibility for both codeplex projects to that team.

While I appreciate that some people are struggling to develop an Image Upload Control, the best I can do at the moment to help is to point you to two resources that have been mentioned before in this thread.

  1. My dnndevzone site has a few articles that show how to use the editor (see my signature for the link)
  2. Nikhil Kothari's book - I used this extensively as a resource when I created the Property Editor Framework.

It is my intention to create more documentation (and examples) but as I mentioned before time is at a premium at the moment.

Anyone interested in working together on an image upload control for the core DNN Profile Property Editor? The different options that are possible to develop the image upload control are vast and also means we could learn a few things from each other while working as a team on a website project together over the internet. If your interested contact me using my email address below or reply to this post so I can coordinate the project by sending you a private link to an online chatroom that I setup to help collaborate and develop the image upload control. Good-luck.
