While we don't give out fixed dates for release, at present we're aiming for codefreeze at the end of the month, followed by at least 30 days of intensive testing (theres been a lot of fundamental changes in this release).

I agree 100% that the DAL is a best practice, not a requirement. RAD code can still be designed well, making the port to DAL less cumbersome.

1) How many times have you changed your data provider thus far?

2) Can you examine your code from 6 months ago and modify the functionality?

3) Can someone else use your code as is?

Your answers to these simple questions will help you decide for your next DNN project.
